Rock Hill, SC – Mr. James Howard “Sparky” McConnell, 87, passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at his home.
The memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, January 27, 2023 at Catawba Baptist Church, 1450 S. Anderson Road, Rock Hill, SC with Dr. Ron Richardson officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
Born in Cannon, Georgia, Sparky was the son of the late Lonnie Felton McConnell and the late Euna Bell Hall McConnell. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Pam McConnell and his brother, Bill McConnell. He was retired from Piedmont Medical Center with over 20 years of service. He was a member of Catawba Baptist Church.
Sparky is survived by his wife of 64 years, Helen Wilson McConnell; his sons, Jimmy (Charlene) McConnell of Rock Hill and Brian (Sherry) Locke of Mississippi; a daughter, Cynthia McConnell (Mickey Gardner) of Edgemoor, SC; six grandchildren, Jamie, Josh (Amy),Cole, Jimmy (Brittany), Jeremy, and Jennifer; nine great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Howard McConnell’s name to Catawba Baptist Church, 1450 South Anderson Road, Rock Hill, SC 29730.
