Ivadine Shelley-McDaniel, 84, of Mars Hill, NC, died on July 5,2025 at Madison Health and Rehabilitation in Mars Hill with wonderful care and support by her side.
Ivadine was born in Green Sea, SC on November 11, 1940. She was the daughter of the late Douglas and Julia Allen.
After graduating valedictorian from Green Sea High School in 1958, she received her BS in Elementary Education in 1962, MEd in 1975 and EdS in 1982; all from Winthrop University.
Ivadine was an active member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Indian Land, SC. She retired from the state of SC after serving 31 years in elementary education with a majority of her years working in Special Education. Ivadine enjoyed reading, working puzzles, word searches, playing bingo, loving her family and talking about her grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her late husband, Jimmy F. Shelley, Sr.; and five brothers, Howard Allen, James Allen, Ernest Allen, Bobby Allen and Rembert Allen. Survivors include Andrew J. (Toby) McDaniel; her sisters Uldine Shockley of Sumter, SC and Geri Noon of Denver, CO; son, Jimmy Franklin Shelley, Jr., and daughter in law Karen E. Shelley; their son Kamren Shelley of Rock Hill, SC; son, Murray Allen Shelley, and daughter in law Jennifer Mitchell Shelley and their daughter Lilly Shelley of Mars Hill, N.C.
A service to celebrate life will be held at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC, on July 15, 2025 with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM and a memorial service at 11:00 AM. A private interment will be held following the memorial service at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church Cemetery in Indian Land, SC.
