Rock Hill, SC – Mr. James Calvin Grant, 74, passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at his home.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, July 24, 2023 at Faith Family Christian Center, 3483 Homestead Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732 with Pastor Larry Williams officiating and Pastor Steve Grant assisting. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Park, 620 South Cherry Road, Rock Hill, SC. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 1:45 pm on Monday prior to the service at the church.
Born in Rock Hill, SC, Mr. Grant was the son of the late Clarence Grant and the late Virginia McCowan Grant. He was also preceded in death by his son, Matthew Grant, his sister, Linda Grant. Calvin grew up loving the great outdoors, he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed working at the Nature Museum of York County, where he learned to be a taxidermist. In his later years he enjoyed watching the Carolina Panthers and the Atlanta Braves. Calvin also loved going on outings with his life long friend, Mike Broome. He was a member of American Legion, Frank Roach Post #34, VFW Post #2889, and Faith Family Christian Center, where he served as an usher.
Mr. Grant is survived by his son, Jonathan Grant (Sabrina) of Rock Hill; two daughters, Barbara Grant and Robin Grant (Dustin) both of Rock Hill; two brothers, Steve (Charlene) Grant of York, SC, John Grant of Littleton, CO; two sisters, Frances Grant of Florida, Tracy Grant Brooks of Rock Hill; fifteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in James C. Grant’s name to Faith Family Christian Center, 3483 Homestead Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732.
