James Chandler Yannotti “Chan” went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2026, surrounded by his family at home.
Born in Pineville, NC, Chan was the son of Frederick Yannotti and Lynda Hunter. He was a 1989 graduate of Northwestern High School and attended Central Piedmont Community College.
Chan was an avid outdoorsman. He was happiest hunting, fishing, or just spending time with his best buddies outdoors. He was a member of the South Carolina Waterfowl Association, helping to raise money for Camp Woodie, where kids can attend camp focused on wildlife conservation as well as hunting and boating safety.
Chan is survived by his wife of 34 years, Linda Bynum Yannotti; son and daughter-in-law, Dalton and Shelby Yannotti; daughter and son-in-law, Neily Rae and Thomas Gettys; and granddaughter, Charlotte Ivie Yannotti. He is also survived by his mother, Lynda Hunter; his father, Frederick Yannotti (Kim); his brothers, Brian Yannotti (Stephanie) and Tommy Yannotti (Sally); his stepbrother, Ronnie Woods; his stepsister, Chrissy Steen (Chase); his brother-in-law, William “Butch” Whitmore (Sue); and his sister-in-law, Laura Fowler (Michael). He is also survived by his special niece and nephew, Paige Fowler Henderson (Trey) and Wesley Fowler (Julie), among other nieces and nephews. Special cousins Debbie and Roy Starnes, as well as many others, and his lifelong best friends, Jim St. Clair (Amy), Heath Thomasson (Leslie), Dean Holler, and Dan Plowden, along with many other great friends.
Chan was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Clyde and Gertrude Hunter; his paternal grandparents, Joe and Ethel Gross; his in-laws, Meredith and Barbara Bynum; his niece, Tiernee Whitmore; and his nephew, Bailey Griffin.
Chan owned and operated Envirascape LLC for twenty-four years before selling the business after being diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. Given a prognosis of just twelve months, Chan, in typical fashion, fought courageously and survived for three years and three days. His family and closest friends rallied around him during this difficult time.
Chan was a devoted husband, father, and Pop. After his diagnosis, Chan’s friends started helping him check items off his bucket list with hunting trips to Canada and snowmobiling in Yellowstone. Chan had a tough shell but a huge heart, always doing for others. He was well loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Elevation Church, 604 Celriver Road, Rock Hill, SC, with Pastor Jordan Hicks officiating.
