James Harrol King Jr., 78, passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at Atrium Health in Pineville, NC.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, October 10, 2025, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732. The family will receive visitors on Thursday evening from 6:00-7:30 PM at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel.
Born on February 23, 1947, Mr. King was the son to the late James Harrol King Sr. and Minnie Magdaleane Pressley King. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army for nine years. Mr. King was a Vietnam Veteran in the 1st Cavalry Division and 199th Light Infantry; he was awarded a Bronze Star, a Purple Heart, and an Army Commendation Medal. In his work life, he worked for 41 years at Lance Inc. He was an avid Oklahoma Sooners and Kansas City Chiefs fan. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, watching NASCAR, and working on cars. Above all, spending time with family was most important to him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Linda M King; his daughter and son-in-law Lynne and Bruce Amerson; his son and daughter-in-law James and Brandi King; his grandchildren Ashley (Brandon) Lovvorn, Joshua (Katherine) Amerson, Hannah King, and Chloe King; his great- grandchildren Micah and Eden Lovvorn; his sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Arthur Barnes; and his nephews Wayne Gregory, Ricky Gregory, and Kevin Barnes.
Mr. King is preceded in death by his late parents; his brother Larry Threatt, and his infant son James Harrol King III.
