Jason Harold Murphy, 79, went home to be with The Lord on Saturday, June 7, 2025, surrounded by his family at his home in Rock Hill, SC.
Mr. Murphy was born on July 9, 1945, to the late Jason Calvin Murphy and Frankie Sue Beeks Murphy in Spartanburg County, SC. He attended Lancaster High School, where he was active in the band and the baseball team. After graduating in 1963, Mr. Murphy chose to serve his country in the U.S. National Guard for 6 years. In his work life, he enjoyed working as a South Carolina real estate appraiser. Mr. Murphy also had a passion for southern gospel music and served as Minister of Music at Eastside Baptist Church for many years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Brenda Kennington Murphy; his son Jason Murphy (Malinda); his daughter, Julie Mullis (Jeff); his grandchildren, Logan Connelly (Cameron), Kent Murphy, Landis Beck, and Kyle Murphy; his great-grandchildren, Presleigh and Paxton Connelly; his siblings, Rhoda Lee Murphy Byrd, and James A. Murphy (Barbara); and his sisters-in-law, Celeste Murphy, Sarah Murphy, and Betty Murphy.
He was preceded in death by his late parents; and his brothers, William C. Murphy, Robert Allen Murphy, and Walter Daniel Murphy.
A funeral service will be held for Mr. Murphy at 2:00PM on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at Eastside Baptist Church, 318 N Jones Ave, Rock Hill, SC 29730. The family will receive visitors prior to the service at the church beginning at 1:00PM. Burial will follow the service at Rock Hill Memorial Gardens, 700 Heckle Boulevard, Rock Hill, SC 29732.
