Jeff G. Dougherty, 64, passed into the loving arms of Jesus unexpectedly on June 22, 2026, while in the Bahamas.
Born in Roanoke, Virginia, Jeff, also known as JD by many, was the son of the late Gordon Dougherty and the late Edith Dougherty. Jeff was a member of Impact Church of Rock Hill. He and Susan led a life group in their home recently and he also served on the welcome committee for the church. He was a devoted husband to Susan Dougherty and a loving father to his two sons, Zachary Dougherty and Gabriel Dougherty, who were the pride and joy of his life.
Jeff dedicated 38 years of service to Duke Energy, where he worked as an engineer and project manager. He was respected for his intelligence, professionalism, and commitment to excellence throughout his career.
Outside of work, Jeff had a deep passion for genealogy, spending countless hours researching family history and preserving stories for future generations. He also loved writing and treasured the time he spent with his family. Whether sharing stories, offering thoughtful advice, or simply enjoying life’s everyday moments with those he loved, Jeff leaves behind memories that will be cherished forever.
Jeff will be remembered for his kind heart, sharp mind, quiet strength, and unwavering love for his family. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and in the family he loved so deeply.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Susan Dougherty; his sons, Zachary Dougherty of Greenville and Gabriel Dougherty of York; his brother, Terry Dougherty of New Castle, VA; his brother, Tim (Brenda) Dougherty of Moneta, VA; his brother, Kevin Dougherty of Jacksonville, FL and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins, all who will miss him dearly.
A Celebration of Jeff’s life will be held at Impact Church, 5115 Old York Road, Rock Hill, SC on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at 11:00 am with Pastor Jason Brinkley officiating.
