On March 4, 2023, Jerry Lewis Smith went to be with his Lord and Savior. Jerry was born on June 22, 1948 in Gastonia, North Carolina. He was the son of Clyde and Juanita Smith.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 9 at 1:00 pm at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Rd., Rock Hill, SC 29732. The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 12:00-12:50 pm. Burial will follow the service at Mountain Rest Cemetery in Kings Mountain, NC.
Jerry loved his family, the outdoors, and his artwork. As a young boy, he spent his summers exploring trails and riding horses in the North Carolina mountains with his uncles, aunts, and special cousins. Jerry retired from the North Carolina Air National Guard, Air Force Reserve, and Duke Energy Catawba Nuclear Station.
Since his retirement, Jerry spent time with his wife, Patricia, of 55 years, their three sons, and six “grands.” When he wasn’t on his lawn mower, you could find him in his man cave painting and drawing. Jerry’s family and friends will miss his humble, kind spirit and unconditional love.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Moore Smith, three sons Brian (Melisa), Chris (Jessica), and Eric (Malydia), and six grandchildren, Justin, Cathryn, Alana, Addison, Nadia, and Gunnar.
In addition to parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his sister, Vicky Cheatham, and brother, Larry Smith.
His final resting place will be Mountain Rest Cemetery, Kings Mountain, North Carolina.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent in Jerry’s name to Parkwood Baptist Church, 1827 Dixon Road, Gastonia, NC 28054.
