Born in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, Mrs. Walker was the daughter of the late James Pony Lawson and the late Inez Louise Hutchins Lawson. She is predeceased by her late husband of more than 66 years, William Henry Walker who passed in 2020.
She worked over 40 years mostly in retail as a bookkeeper/manager… being always good with numbers and people. She retired at 62 years old and enjoyed her family, gardening, working in her yard and flowers, learning all she could about the lives of her children, her grands and great grands, and baking and cooking wonderful meals for her loved ones. The little things were so important to her.
She was a strong and determined person who loved her family immensely. Was a loving and kind soul, a guiding light and positive force for her family, and known for her motherly intuition and wise advice, whose words of wisdom and storytelling will be missed by her loved ones for many, many years.
Surviving are her son, Derrick Shane Walker (Deborah) of Conroe, TX; four daughters, Deborah Anne Werner (Eric) of Indianapolis, IN; Regina Renee Towery (Rodney) of Rock Hill, SC; Tamara Suzanne Moffett (Tommy) of Amory, MS; and Wendy Michelle Schuster of Rock Hill, SC; her sister, Joan Lawson Porter (Don) of Albuquerque, NM; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mrs. Walker‘s name to ALSAC/Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org, or the American Heart Association www.heart.org or York County Cancer Association, PO Box 4975 CRS, Rock Hill, SC 29732 or to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation www.t2t.org.
