Rock Hill, SC – Joel Rice Nutting, age 76, of Rock Hill, SC, passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2024 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC after a brief illness.

Joel was born February 11, 1948, in Aurora, IL. He was preceded in death by his mother, Eloise (Martin) Nutting. Joel is survived by his father, R. Rice Nutting, his sister, Daralee Oleson (Mark), his brother, Todd Nutting (Marybeth) and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Joel was a US Army veteran who served during the Vietnam War and was deployed to Korea. After graduating from college, Joel started his civilian career as an insurance agent in Boston, Massachusetts. He then pursued a long career in aviation as a commercial pilot for various passenger and freight airlines throughout the country. Joel then transitioned to the US Postal Service, where he continued his career until he retired. He was a lifelong audiophile, amateur photographer, sports car buff, and an avid bicyclist and fitness enthusiast. He was a long-time parishioner, and active worship team member at Westminster Presbyterian Church.

A celebration of Joel’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1320 India Hook Road, Rock Hill SC, with the Reverend J.T. Hoover officiating.
