Joretta Addy Bryant, 76, passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Rock Hill Post Acute Care Center on May 26, 2026. The world became a brighter place when Joretta was born in Columbia, South Carolina, on October 22, 1949, to the late Rhett and Narvis Addy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Rita Addy Brown, and her mother-in-law Gloria Bryant. In her final days, Joretta longed to see her mama, daddy, and Mrs. Bryant, and they all surely rejoiced in a heavenly reunion on May 26th .

Joretta is survived by her husband Bob Bryant, after a beautiful 51-year marriage filled with love and devotion.

Even though Joretta faced challenges from a type of muscular dystrophy diagnosed when she was young, she and Bob enjoyed life to the fullest traveling, hosting parties, and celebrating Christmases. During frequent visits to Charleston, Joretta loved stays at the Charleston Place Hotel, where she was treated like the queen Bob saw her to be.

Known by many for her genuine kindness, often shared through personalized cards and special notes, Joretta fiercely loved her close friends and showed deep appreciation to those who provided comfort and services to her. Never having children, Joretta poured love into Button, her beloved Boykin Spaniel, who was a great companion for 13 years. As Joretta went on to her great reward, we know she entered heaven’s gates with strong legs, no pain, and lots of kisses from Button.

Joretta attended Limestone College in Gaffney, SC. She worked for nearly 30 years for the State of South Carolina at the York County Department of Social Services and retired after serving as a Fraud Investigator.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, May 31, 2026, at 3:00pm at Woodland United Methodist Church, 801 Cherry Road, Rock Hill, SC, 29732, with Pastor Robin Griffith officiating. The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the service.

Joretta loved flowers of all kinds, so flowers are welcome to be part of her celebration, or friends are encouraged to make a donation in her honor to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
