Karen Sue Gibson, a beloved mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 25, 2025, surrounded by the people she loved.
Born in Greensboro, NC on August 13, 1950, Karen was the daughter of the late Delmar Chriscoe and the late Willie Mae Davis Chriscoe.
Karen was a sister of seven siblings, including six sisters, Nancy Crabtree of High Point, North Carolina; Teresa Bergeron of Rock Hill, South Carolina; Bonnie Blackwell of York, South Carolina; Judy Collins of Richburg, South Carolina; Donna Jones of Great Falls, South Carolina; and Susie Chriscoe of Heath Springs, South Carolina. She is also survived by her brother, Albert Chriscoe, and her late brother, Delmar Chriscoe.
Karen was a proud mother to her two children, Eddie Gibson of Rock Hill, South Carolina, and Kristina Gibson Mathews of Concord, North Carolina. She was a loving aunt to six nieces and four nephews, who will always remember her warmth and kindness. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Donnie Waters of Rock Hill, South Carolina, and Krysten Shuler of Bryson City, North Carolina, as well as her late granddaughter, Haley Cole of Bryson City, North Carolina.
Known for her angelic spirit, Karen brought joy and love to all those around her. She will be dearly missed but will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at 2 PM, followed by a service officiated by Pastor Jean Willard. Family and friends are invited to come together to honor and celebrate Karen’s life.
She was an angel here on earth and now she is at peace in heaven.
