Ksena May Champion Stone was born May 28th 1933 in Georgia. She was everything a good southern woman should be, beautiful, strong-willed, and a superb cook. During her youth, she won the Miss Turpetine competition, a feat she often expressed great embarrassment for. But to her loved ones, all knew she earned the title fair and square.

During a chance encounter at a lake house party, Ksena’s life was forever changed when she met John Wingate Stone. Despite being in the thick of her college tenure, she halted her education to marry and care for him throughout his struggles with polio. It is a comfort to know they are reunited once more after 20 long years apart.

Through John’s passion for aviation, Ksena formed her own love of flying. In a time where women were boxed into the role of flight attendant, she daringly pushed forward to earn her pilot’s license. With her license, she would go on to become a flight instructor and corporate pilot. Later on in their lives, they would run the Carowings FBO located at the Rock Hill Airport, helping many to earn their wings.

Now, Ksena has earned a new set of wings, she can finally be free of the limitations of age. She will never be stripped of her ability to fly again, something those close to her knew she missed dearly. May her memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved her.
