Laura O’Neal Latham, age 85, passed away on February 7, 2024, at White Oak Manor in Rock Hill, SC.

Ms. Latham graduated from Winthrop College, then worked as an English teacher in Greenwood, SC and later taught at York Tech in Rock Hill.  She worked for several newspapers including the Rock Hill Times, Lincoln Times News, and the Fort Mill Times.  For much of her life, she worked in public relations and even owned her own businesses, one of which was the Advertising Workshop, and another was Laura Latham Public Relations with a New Spirit.  During the 1980s, she published a local Christian magazine called Just Good News.

She was active in the Jaycees, Junior Woman’s Club, Junior Welfare League, and her church, Westminster Presbyterian.  Other civic activities include publicity chairman of Come See Me Festival and York County March of Dimes Chapter Chairman.  She also worked to start Designers Ltd., which was an association of women who designed and sewed their own clothing and presented fashion shows for textile industries and charities.

She is survived by her sister Helen O’Neal Glover, her children Chip Latham, Neal Latham, Thomas Latham, and MaryHelen Latham (Lumetta), 13 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her brother John O’Neal.

Family will receive visitors Monday night from 5-7 at Greene Funeral Home on Ebenezer Road in Rock Hill and will have a celebration of her life on Tuesday, February 13 at 2:00 also at Greene Funeral Home.  Burial to follow at Forrest Hills Cemetery.
