Rock Hill, SC – Martha Lavada Dunning, 99, passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2023, at her home.
Mrs. Dunning was born on March 22, 1923, to the late William P. Talley and Elizabeth Vinson Talley, in Walhalla, SC. Martha was a child of the Great Depression and saw many events and changes throughout her life. In her work life, she owned and operated A & D Coffee Inc. in Hampton, Virginia for many years. Afterwards, she served the elderly as a caretaker and later took care of each of her four sisters, as their health declined.
She is survived by her son, Kirk Joyner; several nephews and nieces; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Dunning was preceded in death by her parents, William P. Talley and Elizabeth Vinson Talley; her son, James Calvin Wolfe, her daughter Brenda L. Smith, her two brothers, Raymond J. Talley and Leonard Talley; and her sisters, Mammy Taylor, Rhoda Huckleberry, Sarah Passmore, and Ruby Vinson.
A private graveside service was held for Mrs. Dunning Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 3:30PM at Forest Hills Cemetery, 4290 Old York Rd, Rock Hill, SC 29732.
