Lester Holland Stowe III, 80, peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on Monday, August 3, 2026.
Born in Charlotte, NC, Holland was the son of the late Lester Holland Stowe II, and the late Harriet Davis Payne. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Brooks.
In his early life, he was a proud member of the United States Air Force where he served as a jet engine mechanic. After his service duty, his career shifted industrial plant management for 20 years for various companies. In his later life, he was a stay-at-home father to his daughter, which was his greatest blessing.
In his free time, Holland held a vast number of various hobbies that he greatly enjoyed. He was an extremely gifted craftsman who worked on anything and everything such as home remodeling, model airplane construction, and automotive repair. He loved to hunt, skeet shoot, ride motorcycles, barbecuing, fish, golf, was an avid sports fan, and he greatly enjoyed spending time at Holden Beach, a place very dear to him, where his family has a beloved beach house.
His favorite place to spend his free time, however, was his backyard shop, constructed by himself and his closest friends, where he helped all of his closest friends and family with any hobby or repair work such as automotive work, wood working, or simply having a fun gathering with friends and sharing a laugh.
Holland also held an oPicer position at York County Flyers, a model air club, where he met and maintained some of his greatest friendships. He also ran the Charlotte Rifle and Pistol club and was a member of Eagle Chase golf club in Monroe, NC where he played successfully in several golf tournaments.
In his life, he had a great love for animals and took great pride in the care of his pets which included several beloved cats, dogs, and birds.
Holland is survived by his beloved wife Cheryl Stowe, his daughter Cynthia Stowe and her husband Daniel Pruce, his son Jonathon Stowe, his wife Angel Stowe, and their son Thomas Stowe; his son Jason Stowe; his sister Sharon Boisson and her husband Serge, his nephews Michael Brooks and Will Brooks, his niece Angela Everitt; and countless beloved friends.
Holland and his family would like to extend a special thank you to his primary hospice caregiver Jane Cribb, who provided loving care and continued support through his end of life care.
