Rock Hill, SC – Praise God, a child of the King has been called home. Mr. Lewis Jerrell “LJ” Williams, Sr., a devout Christian man, has completed his earthly journey and now rejoices in heaven.
Mr. Williams, 89, passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.
The funeral service will be held at 6:00 pm on Sunday, September 24, 2023, at West End Baptist Church, 1727 McConnells Highway, Rock Hill, SC, with the Reverend Doctor Zack Williams officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 5:45 pm on Sunday at the church prior to the service. Burial will take place in Forest Hills Cemetery, Old York Road, Rock Hill, at 2:30 pm on Monday, September 25, 2023.
Born in Rock Hill, SC, Mr. Williams was the son of the late Walter Cleveland Williams and the late Daisy Costner Williams. A great Christian man, he was preceded in death by his grandsons, Johnny Lynn Williams, Jr., and Matthew Joseph Williams; nine brothers: Albert, Walter Jr., Ira, Jack, Calvin, Paul, Pete, Roy, and Toy; and three sisters: Nannie, Nellie, and Betty.
Married for a blessed 69 years, Mr. Williams is survived by his wife, Roberta Ann McDowell Williams. His legacy includes four sons: Jerrell (Peggy) Williams of Rock Hill, Ben (Wadeen) Williams, Johnny (Cindy) Williams, and Donald (Jamie) Williams, all from York, SC; a brother, Reverend Tommy Williams of Rock Hill; a sister, Mildred R. Rabb of Marion, NC; ten grandchildren: Scott (Tina), Melissa (Jerrett), Julie (Chase), Jonathan (Donna), Benjamin (Andrea), Leslie (Justin), Josh, Jodi (Darrell), Willy (Jamie), and Zack (Summer); along with 23 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
