Rock Hill – Mr. Luigi Sesto Rizzo, 72, passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2023 at Atrium Health – Pineville, NC.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, March 5, 2023 at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732 with Reverend Rick Martin officiating. Funeral service will be live-streamed at www.greenefuneralhome.net. Burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm until 1:45 pm on Sunday at the funeral home prior to the service.

Born in Palermo, Italy, February 18, 1951, Mr. Rizzo was the son of the late Eugenio Rizzo and the late Giuseppa Ganci Rizzo.  He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Giuseppa Rizzo; his brothers, Tommaso Rizzo, and Marcoantonio Rizzo; his sisters, Fedele Rizzo, Adela Rizzo, and Adelaida Garofalo.  He was Owner-Operator of Luigi and Son’s Restaurant in Rock Hill. Luigi could master any challenge; whether it was beginning a life in a new country, raising eight children, or starting a successful business with little to no resources, he accomplished his goals with ingenuity and determination. He was a generous man, with a history of helping family, friends, and employees, even once gifting his car to a young man in need. Luigi was loyal, keeping his promise to his dying father to always look after his siblings and, to his wife of 45 years, to love her for all his life. He was a jack of all trades, and a master of many; a trait he passed on to his sons. He loved animals, especially his large pack of little dogs that surrounded him with love for 15 years. To his children, he was a teacher, a guiding light, a superhero, and a best friend. He was the center of the universe to his family, enveloping them with protection and unconditional love. He enjoyed action movies, The Carpenters and Italian Oldies, the ocean, and family game night. He was passionate about everything (he was Italian), but his greatest passions were his family and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Mr. Rizzo is survived by his wife, Brenda Throckmorton Rizzo; six sons, Eugenio (Jessica) Rizzo, Alberto (Allison) Rizzo, Tommaso (Kyla Herring) Rizzo, Marcoantonio Rizzo, Roberto (Jewel) Rizzo, and Fabrizio Rizzo all of Rock Hill; two daughters, Amilia (Kenneth Jones) Rizzo, and Giulietta (Thomas Morey) Rizzo both of Rock Hill; his brothers, Camillo Rizzo of Bradenton, FL and Roberto (Heather) Rizzo of Indian Land, SC; four sisters, Antonia Nicolosi of Bradenton, FL, Rosalba (Frank) LaRocca of Medford, NY, Elena (Joe) Rocco of Sarasota, FL, and Maria (Jim) Skiles of Glen Burnie, MD; his twelve grandchildren, Ariella, Luigi Secondo, Liliana, Madalina, Alberto, Luigi Terzo, Brenda Elizabeth, Brenda Gianna, Olivia, Luigi Gianluca, Brenda Raven, and Brenda Grace.
