Rock Hill, SC – Mrs. Marie Groves Allen, 84, passed away Monday, October 2, 2023 at her home.
Marie has a large and loving family that adores her. Her smiles were warm and generous. When she said I love you it was genuine. Marie loved flowers and beautiful things. She always had a lovely garden and a bountiful vegetable garden. Friends and family were always welcome in her home. She loved to entertain especially her family at the holidays. There were Forth of July celebrations at her home on Lake Wylie. Easter lunch followed by egg hunts was a favorite for many years. Marie was the Matriarch of our family. Her loving, caring nature will always hold her in our hearts.
Mrs. Allen was predeceased by her parents Cliff Woodrow Groves and Gertrude Lunsford Groves, twin sister, Mary and Frank Cape; brother Bill Groves of Jacksonville, NC; and sister, Beverly Cook of Gastonia, NC.
Mrs. Allen is survived by brother Lee and Lisa Groves of Dallas, NC, Sister Frances and (late Larry) Scott of King Mountain, NC, brother Charles Groves of Bessemer City, daughter Debbie & David Shepherd of Wahalla, SC, daughter Pam Alley of Rock Hill, son Ronald V. Ramsey of Charlotte, NC, daughter Kim and Fred Yannotti of Chester, SC, and step-sons, Willis Allen and Mark Allen of Columbus, GA; her 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services for Mrs. Allen will be held 1:00 PM, Thursday, October 5, 2023 at Grace Lutheran Church, 206 N 14th Street, Bessemer City, North Carolina. Burial will follow at the Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery in Bessemer City, North Carolina. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, South Carolina 29732.
