Marie Patton Barrett, 84, went home to be with The Lord and her beloved husband on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her family in Rock Hill, SC.
Born on April 7, 1941, Marie was the daughter to the late Wyley Patton and Ruth Mae Self Patton. She worked as the Senior Citizens Coordinator for the City of Rock Hill for 16 years, owned Marie’s Ceramic Plaque Shop, and partner/owner of O’Darby’s store in Rock Hill. In her pastime, Marie enjoyed golfing, tennis, shagging, jet skiing, painting, boating, and playing cards. Her favorite card game was Hand and Foot. Over the years, she also thoroughly enjoyed interior design and decorating for different seasons in her home. However, Christmas was especially her favorite, as she loved bringing the holiday season to life. Marie also loved seeing her wonderful sisterhood friends and traveling the world with the love of her life, Jim Barrett.
She is survived by her daughters, Diana B. Turner (Kenny Fetty) and Pamela Barnett Slagle; her siblings, Ralph Patton (Billie), Bill Patton (Carol), Ruby Gay, Linda Barker (Ed), and Randall Patton (Lynette); her grandchildren, John Eric Skaryak II (Suzanne), Aaron Seth Turner, and Christina Marie Estes; her great-grandchildren, Triston Michael Barnett, Laney Nicole Skaryak, Ethan Dale Burris, Sarah Rae Barnett, and Dalton Richard Estes; and her wonderful, loving, compassionate, and dedicated caregiver who is loved by our family for many years, TJ.
Marie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Reuben James “Jim” Barrett Jr.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, September 26, 2025, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732. The family will receive friends and family at the home of Marie Barrett immediately following the service.
