Rock Hill, SC – Martha Brown Maxie passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, August 15, 2026, surrounded by her family.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 10:50 am on Wednesday, August 19th at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Rd, Rock Hill, SC 29732. A service will follow at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will take place immediately after the service at Adnah Methodist Church Cemetery, 1 Adnah Dr., Rock Hill, SC 29732.
Martha was the daughter of the late Luther Brown and the late Mary Brown. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Sherrill Troutman.
Martha enjoyed gardening, reading, and cooking for her familiy. She took great pride in canning and freezing her own vegetables. In her spare time she loved shopping for antiques. Martha also found fulfillment serving the church by preparing bereavement meals for grieving families. More than anything else, she valued her role as a wife and a mother.
Martha is survived by her husband of 68 years, Benny Maxie; her two daughters, Tammie Good (Jimmy) and Jacki Smith (Tri); her three grandchildren, Mary Jenkins (Craig), Jamie Caveny (Jon Michael), and Jackson Smith; her great-grandchildren, James and another one on the way; her nephew who she helped raise as her own, Earl Troutman (Phyllis); and one brother, Luke Brown.
