Rock Hill, SC – Martha Bragg Haynsworth passed away on January 29, 2026 at Westminster Health and Rehabilitation Center.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, February 6, 2026 at Westminster Towers, 1330 India Hook Road, Rock Hill, SC in Heritage Hall.
Martha was born in Norfolk, Virginia to the late Laurence Anderson Bragg and the late Muriel Miriam Moore Bragg. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dr. Hugh “Toby” Charles Haynsworth, III; her son, Hugh Charles Haynsworth, IV; her sister, Elizabeth Bragg Crafts; and her brother, Laurence “Sunny” Moore Bragg.
Martha attended Randolph Macon Women’s College. On May 30, 1957 she married Hugh “Toby” Charles Haynsworth, III in Beaufort, NC. Together, they raised two sons, Hugh C. Haynsworth, IV and Samuel Haynsworth. Toby was in the Navy from 1953 to 1975. Their family lived in various places, including Spain, Key West, Florida, and ultimately Rock Hill, SC.
Martha was actively involved in community events and supported various charitable causes throughout her life; she was also an active member of All Nations Church in Fort Mill. Her faith was central to her being, and she found comfort and purpose in her church community. Martha devoted many years to volunteer service, including membership on the South Carolina Children’s Foster Care Review Board for York and Union Counties (Review Board 16A). Her steadfast advocacy and compassionate leadership helper earn Review Board 16A the 2009 Review Board of the Year award.
Martha was a huge Clemson University football and men’s soccer fan. She was involved in her church and was always interested in politics. She also enjoyed, supported and attended the Brevard Music Summer Festival.
Martha is survived by her son, Samuel Moore Haynsworth.
