Polk City, FL – Mrs. Martha Jorene Ford Barnes Martin, 88, passed away Friday, August 18, 2023.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at Grandview Memorial Park – Cherry Road.
Formerly of Rock Hill, SC and Harrisonburg, VA, Mrs. Martin was the daughter of the late John Elim Ford and Hattie Belle Melton Ford. Mrs. Martin was a 1953 graduate of Rock Hill High School. She retired from Celanese with 19 years of service where she worked as a Physical Analyst. She also was previously employed with Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community. Mrs. Martin was the widow of Karl Bigham Barnes and Robert Eugene Martin.
Mrs. Martin is survived by her son, Karl Brian Barnes of Polk City, Florida; nephew and niece, Gary Skaggs of Rock Hill; and Lorraine Parrish Herwig of Alberta, Canada; great nephews and nieces, Kenny Skaggs, Christy Skaggs Case, Brooke Herwig, Lars Herwig, Taylor Skaggs-Ambrose, Caroline Skaggs, and Jacob Lawrence. She was preceded in death by her sister, Edrie Ford Parrish; brother, Tyler Melton Ford; nephew, Stephen M. Ford and niece, Janice Parrish Skaggs.
