Mrs. Walters is survived by her husband, Kenneth Bruce; her children, Kenneth and Todd Walters and Kenneth Bruce, Jr.; her grandchildren, Jonathan Burns, Ericka Cook, Sarah Walters, Scout Greene, Christian Bruce, Hunter Bruce, and David Bruce; and her great grandchildren, Elijah Burns, Caleb Burns, Annabelle Burns, Phoenix Campbell, Ivy Campbell, Axel Bruce, and Ellie Cook.  She was the widow of Darrell Walters.

In addition to her mother, Dixie Wheeler, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Robert and Sallie Wheeler.

The existence of a person like Mary seems to be ever-fleeting in this world. She was someone who was honest and firm in her convictions. She was a truth speaker and by golly, she was going to make sure that you were one too! She fervently believed in the power of hard work and perseverance. Mary had many strong faiths in this world, one of the strongest being that if you made a plan for yourself and put your mind to your goals, there was not anything you could not accomplish, and these truths are evident in the fruits of her labors.

Each person who had the gift of knowing her has a story and a real-life example of her generosity and willingness to help anyone in need. She lived her life not for herself, but to help those around her. This world could never be the same without her and it seems dimmer without her here. Mary’s wishes would be this, let’s brighten this world by making it into what it could be and how she would have had it. Be a listening friend, a helping neighbor, be the change for good in this world, the same way she always has been.

Raise a toast to one of the last southern belles. Now go do something to put a smile on someone’s face today, and think of Mary.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to the Optimist Club of Rock Hill, 3090 Lake Wylie Drive, Rock Hill, SC 29732.
