Rock Hill, South Carolina – Mrs. Melissa Crosby Johnson, 49, passed away on Friday, October 23, 2026, after years of courageously facing serious health challenges, surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Johnson was born on April 17, 1977, in Rock Hill, SC, the daughter of William and Debbie Crosby. She graduated from the nursing program at York Technical College in 1997 and devoted more than 20 years to caring for others as an amazing nurse who touched many lives. She was the loving wife of John Arthur Johnson. Melissa had a heart for helping people, and even in the face of her own health challenges, she never stopped caring for others. She loved making beautiful homemade greeting cards for birthdays and other special occasions, and a card from Melissa was always made with love. She adored her nieces and nephews and loved them as if they were her own children. She also loved her cats, Donte, Zoey and Max. Her generosity and her love for others will never be forgotten.

The family will receive friends at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC, followed by a memorial service at 12:00 noon. A private graveside service will follow.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by her husband, John Arthur Johnson; her parents, William and Debbie Crosby of Rock Hill, SC; her sister, Lorrie Camp (Mike) of Taylors, SC; her brother, William “Chris” Crosby (Paige) of Lowrys, SC; her nieces and nephews, Morgan Camp of Los Angeles, CA, David Camp of Greenville, SC, McKenzie Thrasher (Charlie) of Taylors, SC, Aaron Camp of Taylors, SC, and Mabrie and Claire Crosby of Lowrys, SC.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the doctors and nurses of Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte, NC, for the compassionate care they gave Melissa. As a nurse herself, she knew the value of that kindness, and our family will always be grateful.

She fought through many health challenges, yet her heart remained full of love for those around her. For more than 20 years, she devoted herself to caring for others as a nurse, sharing her compassion both in her profession and in her personal life. Her faith carried her through life’s trials, and the love she gave will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.”
