Michael Kurt Kendree Sr. passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, March 21st , 2026, with his sons, Michael and Harrison, wife, Angela, and cousin, Kim, at his side.

Michael was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on November 6th , 1962, the son of Jack McLean Kendree Sr. and Gloria Vilaró Kendree. Being born and raised in Philadelphia had a lasting impact on Michael’s life, as he remained an ardent and lifelong fan of all of Philadelphia’s
professional sports teams.

In 1980 Michael graduated from Germantown Academy, Fort Washington, Pa., where he was a member of the wrestling team. He continued his wrestling career at Furman University, where he wrestled on a scholarship. Michael transferred to the University of South Carolina, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 1985. Michael continued his education at the University of South Carolina School of Law, graduating with a Juris Doctor in 1991. While at law school, Michael was a member of the Moot Court.

Professionally, Michael was a member of both the Pennsylvania and South Carolina Bar. His first professional position as an attorney was with William Stuart Duncan, Esq. in Georgetown, South Carolina. Subsequently, Michael worked for the O’Neil Law Firm in Myrtle Beach, SC and the South Carolina Department of Revenue in Columbia. In 2003, Michael began working for York County, SC as the assistant county attorney under the guidance of Melvin McKeown, becoming county attorney in 2011. Michael helped guide York County in legal matters as it became one of the fastest growing areas in the entire country. Of particular note was his representing York County in a case that reached the U.S. Supreme Court in 2023.

Personally, Michael was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity, and he loved golfing, swimming, ice skating, animals (especially his dog Zeus), the outdoors, playing fantasy football, and most of all, his family.

He is survived by his wife, Angela; his sons, Michael Jr. and Harrison; his sister, Cynthia Thieringer (James), and many cousins, nieces, and nephews who all love him dearly. He is predeceased by his brother, Jack Kendree.
