Rock Hill, SC – Michael Lee Hill, lovingly known as Mike by family and friends, went to his heavenly home on April 21, 2023 at age 66, after a short battle with brain cancer.

Born and raised in Rock Hill, Mike was a Rock Hill boy through and through, and he loved rooting for his South Carolina Gamecocks. He was born to Everett Lee Hill and Mary Frances Simpson on October 14, 1956. In 1999, Mike accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at the age of 44. He then served the Lord faithfully, until he met Him face-to-face on Friday morning April 21st.

Mike attended Rock Hill High School and then worked as a machinist for many years, until his retirement in the Fall of 2021. He loved spending time with his family, fur babies, and friends, but the happiest day of his life was on December 10, 2016, when he married the love of his life, Leslie Ann Blaney.  Mike was very creative and loved to fish, cook, and travel, but he was a homebody at heart. Mike was also a multi-talented musician, who played the guitar, mandolin, and fiddle and had a music ministry with his Christian, bluegrass band, “Late for Supper.” Along with his cousin, Steve Simpson, Mike was a member of the Southern Songwriters Association. He also wrote many of the songs his band played.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Everett Lee Hill and his brother-in-law, J.R. Curry. Mike leaves behind his wife, Leslie Blaney, his step-daughters Abbey Kirrane (Zak Russell) of Rock Hill and Makayla (Ben) Corkery of Farragut, TN; his mother, Mary Frances Hill-Grant, brother John (Lucy) Hill, and sister Missy Curry all of Rock Hill; brothers-in-law Scott (Arlene) Blaney of Wilmington, NC, Sheldon (Janice) Blaney of Dedham, MA, Larry (Ann) Blaney of Hooksett, NH; two grandsons, Greyson and Ezra, 12 nieces and nephews, 5 great-nieces and nephews, multiple cousins, extended family, and friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Fort Mill Church of God, 221 Academy Street, Fort Mill, SC, with Pastor Jacob King officiating, on Saturday, April 29, 2023. Visitation from 1:00 until 2:30 p.m.; service to follow at 3:00 p.m. Mike was a wonderful person, who was dearly loved and who will be profoundly missed.
