Mr. Michael “Mike” Rea McCully, age 63, passed away on Sunday, June 11th, 2023, at Atrium Main Hospital in Charlotte, NC, from advanced heart failure.
Mike was born on February 10th, 1960, in Charlotte, NC, to James M. McCully and the late Margaret Ann Rea McCully. He was raised in Indian Land, SC, with his older sister Linda G. McCully King and younger brother, Robert “Bob” J. McCully (Debra Maddox McCully). He graduated from Indian Land High School in 1978, spent 4 years in the Navy working as an aviation electrician, and graduated from Montreat College in 1998, with a bachelor’s degree in Business. Mike spent 33 years working for Duke Energy, as an Instrumentation and Electrical Technician. He was also a volunteer within the community.
He is survived by his “sweetheart” Mary E. Thompson McCully, “Beth,” of 44 years, and had 2 children, James “Jymi” D. McCully (Faye McNicholas McCully) and Kristi McCully (Cody Stallings). He was “Pops” to his 2 grandchildren, Tobias E. McNicholas and J. Darin McCully. At the time of his passing, he lived with his wife, his daughter, his dog Cosmo, and his 2 grand-dogs Belle and Jax, in their home in Rock Hill, SC.
He will forever be loved and remembered by his family, friends, and the many people whose lives he touched.
Mike’s memorial service will be held at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC, on Tuesday, June 20th at 2pm.
