Rock Hill, SC – Mildred “Micki” C. Sumpter, 89, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 2, 2026 at Atrium Health – Main in Charlotte, NC, surrounded by her loving family.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 8, 2026 at Calvary Baptist Church, 830 North Jones Ave, Rock Hill, SC, with Rev. Reggie Hopkins and Rev. David Powley officiating. The family will receive friends immediately after the service. In memory of Micki, please feel free to wear something pink.
Born in Rock Hill, SC, Micki was the daughter of the late Luke Conner and the late Frances Baker Conner. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Lewis Sumpter, and her 3 siblings, Libby Carter, Jean Rawdon, and Sonny Conner. She was retired from the Celanese Corporation with more than 40 years of service. Micki was a member of the Rock Hill High School Class of 1954 and attended the College of Commerce in Rock Hill. She enjoyed reading and working through crossword puzzles. More than anything, she loved spending time with her family and always made an effort to cheer them on in their activities. She was a dedicated, lifelong member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Surviving are her daughter, Kim Walters Brown and her husband, Roger, of Rock Hill, SC; her grandchildren, Melanie Powley (David) and Christopher Brown (Jennifer); her four great-grandchildren, Ethan Powley, Emily Powley, William Brown and Caroline Brown; her sister, Cathi Hamilton (Jeff); and many special nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made in Micki’s name to Calvary Baptist Church.
