Rock Hill, SC – Mrs. Mildred Passmore O’Steen, 90, passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Rock Hill Post Acute Care Center.
A native of Sylva, N.C., Mildred was the daughter of the late M.L. and Guthra Passmore. She was married to the late Frank O’Steen for over 50 years. Mildred was preceded in death by her four sisters, Zora Black, Jeraldine Lowery, Sheraldine Sims, and Flossie Parrish.
Mildred worked at Celanese and was the previous owner/operator of the Shrimp Boat Restaurant in Rock Hill. Mildred and Frank were involved in many organizations in the Rock Hill area including the York County Shrine Club. She was a proud graduate of the Class of 1952 at Rock Hill High school and enjoyed planning and participating in class reunions. Mildred valued hard work and instilled these values in her family. She was of the Baptist faith and loved attending church services and singing from her heart to our Lord and Savior. Her love and faith were infectious to those around her.
Surviving are her son, F. Lee O’Steen and his wife Gail of Rock Hill; her granddaughter Lauren O’Steen; grandson Matthew O’Steen; and several nieces and nephews whom she loved and treasured throughout the years.
The immediate family will have a private memorial and burial. To honor her memory, donations may be made to Newkirk Baptist Church, 175 Museum Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732.
