Nancy, Nan, Mom, Gram, Grandmom, Grandmaw, Great-Grandmom; no matter what you called her she was head of the Chappell Clan.  She was a coal miner’s daughter born and raised in Holly Grove, WV to Flavis Phil and Martha Louise Hancock.  She met and married her husband “Buddy” and moved to PA where they raised their half dozen girls. Nancy and Buddy moved to SC in 1986 with the twins and the rest of the family soon followed.  Nancy was a hard worker starting as a school bus driver and then began her long career doing retail resets.  After finally retiring as a manager with Acosta, she cared for her husband while he battled cancer.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Worth “Buddy” Littleton Chappell Jr. (2016); her grandson, Joseph Worth Todd (2023), and her great-grandson, Ryan Jacob Belk (2008).

She is survived by daughters, Brenda Sue Blackwell (Randy) of York, SC, Cindy Lou Amentler (John) of Williston, SC, Victoria Fay Chappell of Rock Hill, SC, Lisa Mae Craig (Buddy) Rock Hill, SC, Melissa Ann Chappell-Walker (Mike) York, SC, Melinda Nan Chappell-Bursey (Reggie) York, SC;  her brothers, Bur and Gary Hancock of Holly Grove, WV; two grandsons, Kevin James O’Neill (Jamie) and Michael William Lamont, all of Rock Hill, SC; eleven granddaughters, Marci Lynn Belk (Ken) of Rock Hill, SC, Becky Jaworsky-Johnson (Daniel) of Yelm, WA, Amanda Lee Whitaker (Jacky) of Smyrna,  SC, Shana Lee Gimmillaro (Patrick) of Atlantic City, NJ, Kelly Anne Squibbs (Jeffrey) of Rock Hill, SC, Jamie Victoria Pope of Wagener SC, Danielle Marie Baker (Brannon) of Rock Hill, SC, Paige Louise Hughes (Jeremy) of York, SC, Devin Melissa Klara of Rock Hill, SC, Addison Nan and Annabelle Blue Walker, both of York, SC; and 22 great-grandchildren.  Samantha Ann Brogan, who was like another daughter, of Clements, MD; Bill Lamont, who was like a son, of Rock Hill, SC.  There are also many others related by marriages and strong friendships.

Nancy never met a stranger and made people feel welcome.  As a lover of both plants and wild animals, she had a way with flowers and strays.  She was never one to sit, still she was always on the go.  Her love of Christmas showed by her huge Santa Claus Collection.   A true believer in God, she would do anything for anyone even if it meant she would do without.
