Nancy Richardson Edwards, 91, passed away on August 5, 2026 at Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House, Rock Hill, SC, surrounded by family. She was born on September 18, 1934 in Hustburg, TN to Lucian and Edna Richardson.
Nancy grew up in and around rural middle Tennessee where she graduated from Tribble High School and married the love of her life, Bobby on July 31, 1954. She joined him to chase the Air Force life for a few years and many other travel adventures later. We think this is where she adopted her love for the road. Our family joke was Mother’s favorite perfume was 100 Octane Gasoline. She was always up for the road but Tennessee was always “home”.
She and Bobby moved their family from Memphis, TN to Caledonia, MS in 1962 where they made many fond memories with a community of friends that she cherished. There they raised Larry, Barry, and Kimberly keeping them on the go and carefully nurtured.
A busy and resourceful homemaker, she turned her love for crafts into a skill that she mastered, decorating cakes. She had a rewarding cake decorating partnership with her dear friend, Lena Mae, for many years. To her neighbors and customers, she was simply, the Cake Lady.
As her family grew, her three grandchildren became a joyful blessing, multiplied again with the addition of her nine great- grandchildren. She filled the role of Gram with love and tenderness.
A devoted matriarch, she blessed her daughters-in-law and son-in-law with an unconditional love that never wavered. They love her with the same dedication.
She was a member of Border Springs Baptist Church. She also was involved in many community activities throughout the years and loved working local election polls while getting to connect with folks.
In 2021 she needed to be closer to her family. After selling her home of 56 years, she alternated her time between York, SC (Barry & Suzie) and Marietta, GA (Larry & Mary Ellen), which she thoroughly enjoyed. It was a blessing to be able to spend this time with her and enjoy her company!
She is survived by her brother, Larry Richardson (Sue), sons-Larry (Mary Ellen) and Barry (Suzie), grandchildren- Lauren (Kevin), Alan (Stephanie), and Wade (Jim), great grandchildren- Hudson, Riley, Piper, Aiden, Haddon, Jude, & Mercy (Sanders) and Caroline & Owen (Edwards). She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Harry Orr, sister in love, Norma Richardson, several cousins, nieces, nephews, and good friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bobby, daughter Kimberly Bennett, sister Sue Orr and parents, Lucian & Edna Richardson.
We will celebrate Nancy’s life, legacy, and birthday on September 18th, 2026 in Marietta, GA. The time and place will be determined and announced as soon as details are complete.
At a later date, her family will return Ms. Nancy & Mr. Bobby’s cremains to their final resting place at Ebenezer Cemetery, Hustburg, TN and her earthly vessel will be “home”.
Nancy’s final days and hours were spent in a kind and caring environment at Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill, close to Barry & Suzie’s home in South Carolina. The entire experience there with their staff gave great comfort to her and for her family as well. We cannot thank the staff and management there enough for their care and compassion.
