Shelby, NC – Mrs. Nora Jones Waters, Age 84, went to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, June 7, 2025, at her home.
Nora was born in Shelby, NC and was the daughter of the late Dewey S. Jones and the late Gussie Beam Jones. She formerly worked as secretary for Goforth Brothers and Elizabeth Baptist Church. She also played the piano and organ for Second Baptist Church, Camps Creek Baptist Church, and Westwood Heights Baptist Church in Shelby. In addition to her parents, Nora was preceded in death by her brother, William Bo Jones, her sisters, Wilhelmina Jones Howell, Betty Ruth Jones Price, and Rebecca Jones Queen, and her sister-in-law, Mary Waters Gillis.
A Memorial service for Nora will be 11:00 am, Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at Westwood Heights Baptist Church, 650 Dellinger Road, Shelby, NC 28152 with Reverend David Costner officiating. Visitation will immediately follow the service at the church.
Nora is survived by her husband of 61 years, Jack Lee Waters, her daughters, Melissa Waters and Melanie Ashe (Vonell); her grandchildren, Will Ashe (Carlie) and Weston Ashe; and her sisters, Linda Jones Martin and Dede Jones Melton.
