York – Mrs. Norma “Pug” Parker Neal, 81, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on July 29, 2025. She passed away peacefully in the arms of her granddaughter, surrounded by loved ones.
Norma was born in Lancaster, SC. She was the daughter of the late Carl and Sudie (Herring) Parker. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church.
Norma received her BS degree from the University of South Carolina. She was formerly employed at Springs Industries and Belk in Lancaster. She was also employed with the Solicitor’s Office in Lancaster, Chief of Security at the women’s prison in Columbia, warden at the Rock Hill Work Release Center, Security Officer at the Catawba Nuclear Station, and Treatment Director at Chester County Alcohol and Drug Center.
Norma was a faithful follower of Jesus. Her love for family, animals, and nature was a testament to her deep connection with God’s creation. Her heart was always at peace by the river in the mountains. She had a passion for children and spent countless hours touching their lives with love, care, and the hope of the Gospel. Norma was a talented crafter and used her hands to spread love, leaving a lasting legacy of faith, kindness, and service.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Lewis “Sonny” Neal; her daughter, Jennifer R. (Cindi) Delgobbo; her sons, Jimmy C. Johnson and Bryan (Veronica) Neal; her brother, Wayne I. (Peggy) Parker; Her granddaughters, Katie McNeil and Kelly McNeil; her great-grandchildren, Zaylyn, London, Jayce, Kingston, and Major McNeil.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her brothers, Charlie and Ken Parker; her sister, Kimi Tucker; and her grandson, Casey McNeil.
A Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 pm, Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Rd. Rock Hill, SC with Reverend Dr. Jim Neal officiating. Family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.
