Patricia McGinnis Powell, of York, South Carolina, passed away on August 31, 2026, at the age of 84.
A devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, great-grandmother, and beloved sister, Patricia leaves behind an abundance of love that will always be passed along to her family and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Patricia was born in Clover, South Carolina, on April 9, 1942, to the late Elwood Newell McGinnis and the late Catherine McManus Triplett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Cathy Connell; and her brothers, Mickey McGinnis and Ronnie McGinnis.
She leaves behind her devoted husband, Buck Powell of York, South Carolina, with whom she shared 47 beautiful years of marriage. They formed a lifetime filled with love, family, and cherished memories that will forever be remembered.
Patricia is survived by her children, Sandey Sanders, Patrick Jenkins (Cassandra), and David Jenkins (Jennifer). She will be remembered for the love, devotion, and encouragement she gave to each of them.
Her greatest joy in life was her family. Patricia was a proud grandmother to Jennifer Green (Rob), Heather Sutton (Kenny), David Stevenson (Helen), Amber Porter (Michael), Kaeley Jenkins, David Jenkins, Joshua Jenkins, Cody Connell, and Abby Connell. She was blessed with 21 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought joy and always held a special place in her heart. She is also survived by her beloved sister, Janice Faith Sheive (Al).
Patricia cherished every moment spent with the people she loved. Whether it was surrounded by her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, or extended family, she found her greatest happiness in being together with those who meant the most to her. Her kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her family created memories that will be loved for generations.
Visitation will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at Grace Nazarene Church, Rock Hill, SC, with the memorial service following at 3:00 p.m. The service will be officiated by Rev. Jessie Sims.
Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
