Pearl Gibson Buchanan, 91, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on February 15, 2026.

Born in Richwood, West Virginia, to the late Charles E. and Alma Keener Gibson, Pearl grew up in Huntersville, North Carolina, where she graduated from high school. She went on to attend secretary school in Charlotte, NC, and later worked in several professions, including as Manager of the Clover High School Cafeteria, at the Woolco Department Store in Rock Hill, SC, and as Office Manager at C.W. Gallant Construction Company. A self-taught bookkeeper, Pearl faithfully handled the accounting for her husband’s business for many years.

Pearl was an avid left-handed bowler who also loved fishing, camping, and traveling across the United States. Her favorite pastime, however, was cheering on her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren at their baseball games. She also enjoyed dirt track racing, NASCAR events, and, in the last 30-plus years of her life, attending Gospel singing events and cruises.

Married to her late husband, Clyde Henry “Hank” Buchanan, for nearly 60 years, Pearl lived a full and blessed life. Together they raised 6 children, Janelle (Jack) Hyde, Michael (Linda) Buchanan, Valerie Good, Kim Sipe, Sheila Gann and Henry “Chuck” Buchanan Jr., who preceded her in death.

Pearl leaves behind a large and loving family of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even a few great-great-grandchildren—some of whom she never had the chance to meet. In recent years, she deeply cherished the time she spent with her great-grandchildren Mia, Jack Wyatt, and Olivia Johnson, and Hayes and Austen Hovis.

She also treasured her church family and missed the fellowship and meals shared after her husband’s passing. Throughout her life, Pearl was blessed with many friends and lived every day with faith, joy, and love.

Please keep the Buchanan family in your thoughts and prayers as they celebrate the beautiful life of Pearl Gibson Buchanan.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026 at 2:00pm at College Park Baptist Church, 1209 Eisenhower Rd, Rock Hill, SC 29730. The family will receive visitors prior of the service from 1:00pm – 1:45pm. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery, 4290 Old York Rd, Rock Hill, SC 29732.
