Rock Hill, SC – Perry Bill Pappas, 64, passed away on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at his home in Rock Hill.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, from 6-7:30 pm at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732. A private family service will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2024.

Perry was born and grew up in Rock Hill, SC. He was the son of the late Bill and Neily Pappas.  He was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church before attending St. Nektarios Greek Orthodox Church for the past 25 years, both in Charlotte, NC.

Perry received a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from the University of South Carolina and he loved the Carolina Gamecocks, regardless of how the football team was doing at any given time. Perry inherited a dry, observant sense of humor from his father, Bill, and could find humor in almost any situation. Perry worked alongside his father at The Colony Restaurant and then, Petchios Restaurant. Most of Perry’s work life was as the business owner of Alarmtronic Systems Inc., a commercial and residential fire and security systems company. Much like his mother, he had the ability to go straight at a project and never let uncertainties or small obstacles derail getting something done.

Perry was an extraordinarily loving and attentive father to Bill Pappas and Laney Pappas. He beamed when asked about his children. Perry was very proud that his son Bill had matured to be the sort of man that Perry respected: hard-working, family-focused, strong and thoughtful – qualities that coincidentally described Perry. He took great pleasure in telling stories of Laney doing something that made her happy, even if doing so would embarrass her.  Perry was extremely proud of Laney taking the initiative to land her first job at her young age.

Perry was the family touchstone.  He always seemed to know something good going on with every cousin. He was a thoughtful and considerate friend and would help without a second thought. Perry was dependable and a man of his word. He could be counted on to do what he said he would do. Meanwhile, Perry never asked much of anyone, except for love and friendship.  In his final illness, Perry was constantly concerned about minimizing inconvenience for others, and even though he was in extreme pain, he would never complain because he did not want to make others feel uncomfortable.

In addition to his two children, Perry is survived by his brother, Peter B. Pappas (Kim); his sister, Anna Pappas-Dozier (Patricia); nieces and nephews, Sarah Pappas (Juan Matiz), Mary Pappas (Mackie Boles), Bill Peter Pappas, and Christian Waggoner. He was predeceased by his parents, Bill Peter and Neily Pappas; and his sister, Michelle Cole (Bruce).

Memorials may be made in Perry’s name to St. Nektarios Greek Orthodox Church, 5108 Kuykendall Rd., Charlotte NC 28270 (www.stnektarios.org) and The Episcopal Church of our Saviour, 144 Caldwell St., Rock Hill SC 29730 (www.ecoos.org).
