Rock Hill, SC – Phillip Edgar Grubb, 82, returned to his heavenly home on December 22, 2023, after a hard fought battle with Parkinson’s disease and Dementia. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in this struggle and ultimately gave his family peace and comfort during this time. He was born to the late Hershel and Ruby Leona Grubb on September 14, 1941 in Bristol, VA where he attended Virginia High School. On May 2nd, 1961, Phillip E. Grubb married his beloved Carolyn. Together, they raised Michael Grubb and Karen Grubb and were blessed with a large and loving family.

Phil was an avid sports fan, supporting local teams and serving as a sports broadcaster for Chester County. Cheering for his son and grandchildren throughout their sporting events was one of his favorite pass times and he made sure that everyone around him knew their successes. Along with his passion for sports and family, Phil had an immense devotion to Christ. Throughout his life, Phil served in his church, Calvary Baptist Church, with unwavering faith and dedication, serving as a Sunday School Teacher and participating in various church events as called upon. He was known as “Pop, “Pawpaw”, and “Uncle Phil” to his family and friends. If you knew Phil, you likely experienced his jokes and wit. However, underneath all of that, there was also a man who sought to save as many souls as he could. Before departing this earth, he was able to express his love, compassion, and smile to us all.

Phil is survived by his son, Mike and his wife, Tracey; his four grandchildren, Michelle Hunt (Chris), Marissa Eubanks (Greer), Kristen Lucente (Zac), and Michael Grubb, Jr. (Alyssa); his five great-grandchildren: Sydney Hunt, Gracyn Hunt, Emily Hunt, Bobby Eubanks, and Addie Eubanks. He is also survived by his brother, Mark Anthony Grubb, of Bluff City, TN. He is preceded in death by his father, Hershel Eugene Grubb, and his mother, Ruby Leona Canter; two sisters, Betty Musselwhite and Patty Mitchell; two brothers, Ronnie Grubb and Kenneth Grubbs.

The visitation for Phil will be held on Wednesday, December 27th at Calvary Baptist Church, 830 Jones Ave N, Rock Hill, SC from 11:00-11:45 am.  A Celebration of Life will be held at 12 noon with Reverends Reggie Hopkins, Roger Brown and Jerry Devinney officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memorial Park-Cherry Road.
