Renee Tillman, known affectionately as “Nee Nee” to family, 68, peacefully went to rest on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at her home in Lake Wylie, SC.
Family will receive and welcome friends on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at 2pm followed by a celebration of life at 3pm with the Reverand Dr. Scott Simpson officiating at Greene Funeral Home, Northwest Chapel located at 2133 Ebenezer Rd., Rock Hill, SC 29732.
Renee was the daughter of the late Prince A. Tillman Jr and the late Catherine Catoe Tillman. Renee was also preceded in death by her sister, the Reverand Dr. Patti Tillman Simpson and niece, Kylie Christine Simpson.
Born on June 18, 1957, in Lancaster, SC, she graduated from Lancaster High School in 1975. During that time, she performed with the marching band as a golden girl and majorette. She obtained an associates degree from York Technical College and later became a nationally certified addictions counselor.
Renee enjoyed sports with her favorites being football and basketball. She loved the Gamecocks, especially the women’s basketball team under the leadership of Dawn Staley. She watched the women’s team religiously and would research the team members so that she knew all about them. She could quote their stats and their backgrounds without hesitation.
As an addiction counselor, she helped many patients struggling with drug or alcohol dependence at the Lancaster Recovery Center. She was very proud of her time and service at LRC, helping countless members of her community on the road to recovery. She was a proud member of AA herself, having walked her own recovery path. She also provided support and assistance to community members who were HIV positive.
Renee enjoyed spending time with family and friends. The greatest joy of her life was her nieces and nephews. She loved them all fiercely and supported them in all walks of their lives, attending cheerleading and gymnastic competitions, baseball and softball games, graduations, weddings, and every other milestone along the way. She planned birthday parties and made “goodie bags” for each of them – no matter the age! She celebrated them and bragged about their accomplishments to anyone who would listen.
Renee is survived by her brother, Al Tillman (Lisa) and Kelly Tillman Sexton (Jamee). She is also survived by her beloved nieces/nephews and great niece/nephew, Kristie Tuscany (Michael), Garrett Tillman (Allison), Grant Tillman (Amanda), Maggee Sexton, Malloree Sexton, Olivia Tillman, and Connor Tillman.
