Born in Brooklyn, New York, Rev. David Alan Chantelau, Sr. was the son of the late Everett Chantelau and the late Florence Howard Chantelau. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Richard Chantelau.

A gifted musician and lifelong servant of the Lord, Dave was a proud member of the Richmond Concert Band and an accomplished trumpeter. He loved sharing his passion for music with others and taught lessons on the trumpet as well as several other instruments. He graduated from the Philadelphia College of Bible with a double major in Bible and Music, a combination that reflected the two great callings of his life.

Dave faithfully served as Minister of Music at Faith Community Church in Roslyn, PA, and later as Minister of Music and Senior Adults at Immanuel Baptist Church in Richmond, VA, and Grace Baptist Church in Lancaster, PA. He went on to serve as Chaplain at Willow Valley Retirement Community, a role he treasured for 17 years until his retirement. Throughout every chapter, he lived out his gentle spirit, servant’s heart, and deep devotion to Christ.

Above all, he cherished time with his family. He was most recently a member of Olivet Presbyterian Church in McConnells, SC.

He is survived by his loving wife, Carol Loux Chantelau; his four children, David Alan Chantelau, Jr. of Oviedo, FL, Dr. Constance Rae Wolfe of Fletcher, NC, Marcy Chantelau Krueger (John) of McConnells, SC, and Jason Howard Chantelau (Ashli) of Greenville; four grandchildren, John Edward Krueger, David Krueger (Rebecca), Ellie Krueger, and Grace Chantelau; his brother, George Chantelau (Carole); his sister-in-law, Ruth Chantelau; and many nieces and nephews.
