Robbie Jane Shoemake, 63, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2026.
Born in Lancaster, South Carolina, to Homer and Gertrude Steele, Robbie later made her home in Rock Hill. She shared 30 wonderful years of marriage with the love of her life, Johnny Shoemake.
Robbie had a passion for plants and flowers. An avid gardener, she worked as the floral manager at Winn-Dixie before later finding joy in catering and event planning. After retiring, she treasured her role as a stay-at-home “Meme” to her beloved grandchildren. She loved spending time at the beach, dressing up her beloved poodle, Molly, and collecting shoes and accessories. Above all else, Robbie’s greatest joy was her family. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and the love she poured into them will continue to live on in each of them.
Robbie is survived by her two daughters, Crystal Gillelan (Mike) and Kayla Knopf (Kenny), both of Rock Hill; her siblings, Michael Steele of Union, Danny Steele of Illinois, and Kathy Crawford of Pelion; her niece, Patty Rumsey of Lancaster, whom she loved as a sister; her cherished grandchildren, Taylor Shoemake, Jareth and Hailey Gillelan, and Cole, Tripp, and Mason Knopf; and many other loving nieces and nephews.
Robbie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Johnny Shoemake; her parents, Homer and Gertrude Steele; and her siblings, Pat Hindman, Ricky Steele, and Louann Steele.
A celebration of Robbie’s life will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at City Hope Church, located in the York Baptist Association building at 434 Museum Road, Rock Hill, South Carolina. The family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 a.m., one hour prior to the service.
Memorials may be made in memory of Robbie J. Shoemake to Richardson Rescue in York, South Carolina, or to City Hope Church. Condolences may be shared with the Shoemake family at www.greenefuneralhome.net.
