Robert Allen Sutton passed away on November 3rd 2026 surrounded by his wife and family. He was preceded in death by his father, Holland L. Sutton; his mother, Amy Louise Sutton Cornwell; and his brother, Harold Lynn Sutton, all of Rock Hill, SC.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ethel Jeter Sutton; daughter, Robbye Sutton Helms (Scott) and grandsons, Drew and Josh; son, Holland “Mack” Sutton (Rosemarie) and grandson, Joseph, and granddaughter, Holly; his sisters, Martha Chapman (Roger) and Sara Thompson (Randy); his sister-in-law Faye Sutton and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Robert “Bob” retired from Winthrop University where he worked as an IT administrator. Throughout his career from IBM to Rock Hill Telephone Company to ADS and Winthrop, Robert enjoyed helping people use technology to make life easier.
Robert was a lifelong member of Friendship Church and served in various roles including Scouts, Trustees, and the Choir. Robert loved his church and the community it served. In retirement, he spent time volunteering at HOPE of Rock Hill, enjoying sports and activities with his grandchildren and sharing travel and cruising adventures with his wife.
The family will receive friends at 3191 Passmore Rd from 4PM to 7PM on November 6th. A celebration of life will be held November 7th from 7-8:30pm at Friendship Church, 1200 Neely Store Road in Rock Hill.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to HOPE of Rock Hill or Friendship Church.
