Rock Hill, SC – Mr. Robert E. Hodgkiss, 89, was reunited with his beloved wife on Saturday, April 22, 2023. He passed away at Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC with Reverend Roger Brown officiating. Burial will be private in Laurelwood Cemetery.
Born in Jersey City, NJ, Mr. Hodgkiss was the son of the late Henry Hodgkiss, Sr., and the late Margaret Walsh Hodgkiss. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 70 years, Mary Stavalo Hodgkiss, and his son, Henry Hodgkiss. Mr. Hodgkiss was a retired truck driver; a family man, preferring to be at home with his loved ones. An avid reader, self-taught in history, politics, and geography which he loved to talk about. Actually, talking WAS his favorite hobby. He had a great sense of humor, loved old movies and Mary’s cooking. He was a loving husband and father, who will be greatly missed.
Mr. Hodgkiss is survived by his daughter, Peggy (Michael) Bodner of Rock Hill; sister-in-law, Dorothy (Edward) Scanlon of Lyndhurst, NJ.
