Rock Hill, SC – Mr Robert ”Eddie” Edward Brakefield, Sr., 76, passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at Piedmont Medical Center.
Eddie was born in York County, SC, and was the son of the late Marshall Brakefield and the late Bertha Caveny Brakefield. In addition to his parents, Eddie was preceded in death by his brothers, Woodrow, William, Jerry, and Richard Brakefield, his sisters, Shirley McDow and Polly Tilley. He was retired from Rock Hill Printing and Finishing and worked at Lowes and Tractor supply. He enjoyed coaching all sports, gardening, antique cars, trains, yard selling and Christmas lighting.
A graveside service for Eddie will be at 11:00 AM, Thursday, July 20, 2023 at Ebenezer ARP Church Cemetery, 2132 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC with Reverend Rick Martin officiating.
The family will receive friends immediately after the service at the cemetery and other times at the home of Chad Brakefield, 1610 Dunlap Roddey Road, Rock Hill, SC 29730.
Eddie is survived by his wife, Linda Covington Brakefield; sons, Robert Brakefield, Jr. and Chad D (Lanette) Brakefield both of Rock Hill, SC; daughter, Jennifer B. Catledge of Chester, SC; his brother, Gene (Betty) Brakefield of York, SC, ten grandchildren, Dilon Brakefield, Payton Brakefield, Alexie Catledge, Alex Catledge, Dallas Ashley, Sully Marquez, Landon Reyes, Ashley Brakefield, Cole Brakefield, and Marley Dockery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mr. Brakefield’s name to American Heart Association/American Stroke Association 10 Glenlake Pkwy NE South Tower Suite 400, Atlanta, GA 30328, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
