Born on January 6, 1944, in Charlotte, North Carolina, Robert lived a life rich in love, service, and dedication. He was 82 years old.
Robert was the treasured son of Henry Robert Helms and Minnie Dawn Helms, who nurtured in him a spirit of resilience and kindness. Robert is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Margie, whose love and companionship were the cornerstones of his happiness.
A man of strong familial bonds, Robert was the proud brother of Donnie Helms, Charles Helms, and Roger Helms. Together, they shared a lifetime of memories and brotherhood that was unbreakable. Robert leaves behind three loving children: David Pressley Jr., Tracey Moose, and Sherri Barrett. He was predeceased by his dear son, Bobby Helms Jr., whom he held close in his heart throughout his life. Each of them carries forward his legacy of kindness and integrity. Robert’s profound impact continues through his five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, who were the light of his life and who will forever cherish the wisdom and warmth he imparted.
In his youth, Robert answered the call of duty and served his country with honor in the United States Army from 1965 to 1969. His time in the military instilled in him a deep sense of pride and patriotism that he carried throughout his life. After his service, Robert pursued a career as a pipe welder in fabrication, where he was known not only for his skill and dedication but also for his unwavering work ethic and camaraderie with his colleagues.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Robert’s life at a service to be held on May 21, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, located at 2133 Ebenezer Rd, Rock Hill, SC 29732. Following the service, Military Honors will be presented at the interment at Grandview Memorial Park, 387 Hollis Lakes Rd, Rock Hill, SC 29732, a tribute to his dedicated service to our nation.
Robert’s life was a testament to the power of love, loyalty, and service. His gentle spirit and steadfast character touched all who knew him, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those fortunate enough to call him family and friend.
