Ronald Melton “Mel” Hollis, 63, of Rock Hill, South Carolina, passed away on April 7, 2025. Born on August 10, 1961, in York, South Carolina, Mel lived a life marked by dedication to his work, deep love for his family, and an infectious sense of humor that brought joy to those around him.
Mel was the beloved husband of Paula Peterson Hollis. Together they built a life centered on family and shared values. He was a devoted father to Brandi Hollis Osborne (Brian), Brooke Hollis (Mike), Payton Hollis Allen (Luke), and Kylie Hollis Pellicano (Andrew). His pride in his children was matched only by the joy he found in being a grandfather to Bryce Osborne, Brylan Osborne, Isabella Hollis, Aviana Hollis, and Eden Hollis.
He is also remembered with love by his brother William Henry Hollis (Shelia) and nephew Brandon Hollis (Ashley). Mel’s family roots ran deep; he was preceded in death by his mother Juanita Mary Hollis and father Ronald Avery Hollis, as well as his grandparents Katie Snow Heffner and Henry Payton Heffner.
Professionally, Mel was a hardworking man who took great pride in his role as a textile mill supervisor. His knowledge of yarn was unmatched—he could speak expertly about any kind imaginable. His determination and work ethic earned him the respect of colleagues throughout the industry.
Outside of work, Mel found joy in the outdoors. He loved hunting and fishing and had a passion for shooting guns. But perhaps more than anything else, he cherished time spent with his family. Whether gathered around the table or out in nature together, those moments were what mattered most to him.
Mel had a gift for storytelling and never missed an opportunity to share a joke or spin a tale that left everyone laughing. His warmth and humor created lasting memories for all who knew him.
The family will have a private celebration of the life of Mel Hollis and the legacy he leaves behind. May the memory of Ronald Melton “Mel” Hollis bring comfort to all who knew and loved him.
