Rock Hill, SC – Sara Kay Lynes, 79, entered into eternal rest on Monday, May 15, 2023.
Sara Kay Lynes was born on October 3, 1943, to the late Lawrence H. Beam and Eire Eargle Beam, in Newberry County, SC. Sara was the widow of her loving husband, Gerald W. Lynes. In her work life, she worked for over 22 years for Westinghouse Electric Corporation and retired from the company. After that chapter of her career, she worked for the department of Juvenile Justice for 10 years as well. In her pastime, Mrs. Lynes was very active in her church life at Grace Lutheran Church in Rock Hill. She also enjoyed taking bus trips with CRH and also enjoyed traveling with her husband on numerous business trips.
She is survived by her four step-children, Christopher Lynes, Mike Lynes (Angie), Rosemarie Matthews (Joel), and Amy Wills (Chris); her nephew, Larry Beam Jr. (Wanda) and her niece, Lynn Hollifield (Kevin).
Mrs. Lynes was preceded in death by her parents, her late husband, and her brother, Larry Beam, Sr.
A funeral service will be held for Mrs. Lynes at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 22, 2023, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732. The family will receive friends prior to the service, at the funeral home, beginning at 9:30 AM. Burial will take place following the service at 3:00 PM at St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, 622 Hope Station Road, Pomaria, SC 29126.
