Sharon (Sherrie) White McQueen, age 78, went home to be with the Lord on August 26, 2026, in Rock Hill, South Carolina. She transitioned peacefully at home, wrapped in the love of her son, Sean McQueen, and daughter-in-law, Jessica Harvey, who held her hands as she passed from this life into the next.
Sherrie was born on December 10, 1947, in South Bend, Indiana, to James and Irene White. Over the course of her life, she called many places home — Colorado, Texas, Georgia, Florida, and finally South Carolina — and in every one of them, she left a piece of her heart. Wherever Sherrie went, friendships followed and lasted a lifetime, forged both through her work and, most of all, through her deep Catholic faith.
The legacy Sherrie leaves behind transcends what words can fully capture. She was a mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, best friend, mentor, and teacher. To know Sherrie was truly to love her. She was cherished for her deep compassion, her unwavering loyalty, and a joyful, one-of-a-kind laugh that could fill an entire room. Her life’s true mission was reflecting the love of Christ to everyone she met.
For much of her life, Sherrie was a cornerstone of Transfiguration Catholic Church in Marietta, Georgia. She served faithfully across numerous ministries—including Youth Ministry, the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA), Adult Faith Formation, Liturgy as an Extraordinary Minister, and Parish Council. A true servant leader, Sherrie played a pivotal role in guiding and nurturing the faith journeys of countless souls.
In her professional life, Sherrie was a highly respected leader with Apartment Selector for over four decades. Her warmth turned colleagues into lifelong friends, and her legendary annual Christmas parties which she poured days of preparation and love into—were a testament to her hospitality and spirit. Yet, above all her accomplishments, her greatest pride and devotion was as a single mother to her son, Sean. She raised him anchored in faith and unconditional love, building an unbreakable bond that will endure forever.
Sherrie is survived by her beloved son, Sean McQueen; her daughter-in-law, Jessica Harvey; her treasured grandchildren, Jacob McQueen and Autumn McQueen; her sisters, Debra White and Keely Wigfield; as well as an extended circle of family and friends who loved her dearly.
The funeral Mass will be held at Transfiguration Catholic Church in Marietta, Georgia on Saturday September 12, 2026 at 1 p.m. For those unable to join in person, the service will be live-streamed via the church website. In honor of Sherri’s radiant spirit — one that always matched her colorful, vibrant wardrobe — we invite those attending to wear bright colors or cheerful patterns in celebration of her life.
