Mrs. Shirley Ruth Cason, 91, passed away on January 31, 2026. She was born on October 5, 1934 in Royalton, IL, to the late Oscar Leroy Hook Sr. and the late Ruth Aline Baker Hook. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Oscar Leroy Hook Jr., Mary Juanita Hook, and Melba Faye Thompson.
She is survived by daughter, Juanita Tate (Lloyde); grandchildren, Tommy Johnson, Angelina Bumgardner, Carmen Ferrera (Gerson); great-grandchildren, Brittany Canfield, Gabriella Bumgardner, Elijah Bumgardner, Scotty Trent, Destini Ferrera, Emily Ferrera, Rihanna Ferrera; great-great-grandchild, Madelyn Ferrera; nieces, Angela Fluck, Jami Jones, Frankie Wanger, Christine Thompson, Heather Autrey, Tonya Ellis, Erin Thompson; nephews Mike Thompson, Roy Thompson, Ryan Kerr, and Shawn Thompson; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
She retired from US&G after 25+ years of service in the District Audit Dept. She started with the company in California and then continued her service in the Commercial Lines Dept in Charlotte, North Carolina..
Shirley was an avid reader who cherished the Bible above all else. She enjoyed having her nails done in vibrant colors and designs and spent her leisure time playing games and watching food clips on social media on her tablet and completing puzzles in books.
There will be a funeral ceremony for Shirley Ruth Cason on Tuesday, February, 10, 2025, at 2 PM at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, with pastor Matt Burrell officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at 1PM. Burial will follow after the service at Grandview Memorial Park – Cherry Road, 620 S. Cherry Road, Rock Hill, SC, 29732.
