Lancaster, SC – Stephen G. Pakozdy, 85, passed away on Friday, January 17, 2025 surrounded by his beloved family.
Stephen was born in Odgensburg, NJ, on November 26, 1939, he was the son to the late Stephen Pakozdy and Mary Kapocsi Pakozdy.
Stephen was deeply involved in organizations such as the National Street Rod Association and was a dedicated member of Saint Anne’s Catholic Church in Rock Hill, SC. Over the years, he built a diverse career—owning an auto body shop, working as an Allstate adjuster, as a realtor, and a commercial and residential contractor.
Stephen is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Sandra Pakozdy; his children, Garry Pakozdy (Jessica) of Lancaster, SC, and Lisa Pakozdy Horne (Michael) of Rock Hill, SC; his grandchildren, Justin Horne (Caitlin) of Pendleton, SC, and Wendy Horne Arceneaux (Jordan) of Charleston, SC; and his cherished great-granddaughter, Cali Horne. He is also survived by his sister, Helen Ross of Ogdensburg, NJ, and his brother-in-law, Roy Daigle of Palm Coast, FL, as well as many wonderful numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Stephen is preceded in death by his sister, Mary Pakozdy Daigle.
Stephen’s legacy of hard work, dedication, and love for his family will always be remembered. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Family will receive friends on Friday, January 24, 2025 from 9:30AM – 10:30AM followed by a service at 11:00AM, both the visitation and service will be held at Saint Anne’s Catholic Church, 1694 Bird St, Rock Hill SC 29730. Burial will follow immediately after the service at Forest Hills Cemetery, Rock Hill, SC.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Stephen’s name to Saint Anne’s Catholic Church of Rock Hill, SC, or the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House of Rock Hill, SC.
